Since my friend also likes Twilight Princess a lot, I decided to make her a papercraft of Midna, one of her favourite characters. To make it sturdier and harder to bend out of shape, I filled the arms and legs with hot glue and the body and head with layers of hot glue and PVA+water soaked kitchen towels. It really works, because I've dropped it a few times and, even though it's pretty heavy, it hasn't dented at all :)

Whoa... long time no see.
... Sorry for no posts.
:(
I guess I sorta... forgot. And I've been soaked up in DeviantART. :/
Aaaanyway, I made these Burtonesque earrings out of aluminium wire and glass beads; hot glue wasn't enough to hold them together, so I just used superglue. I was mostly inspired by Beetlejuice's pinstriped suit, and Tim's fondness for black and white striped things.
Since the wire is so soft, you can bend it into all sorts of shapes.
If you bend it too much though, the glue at the end of the wire goes under too much pressure and the whole thing just pops. I'll try to fix it soon... :)

Lanky or what?
"And since I am dead, I can take off my head! To recite Shakesperean quotations..."
Jack is finished! ^.^
I *love* the way he came out, he's now decorating my desk :D
The head was a bit hard to close (as all spheres are) so there's an ugly line on the back of it, but other than that it's fine. The arms and legs were really easy, because they were just cylinders, although it took quite a while to align the pinstripes properly :)
P.S. I might be uploading some other art that isn't papercraft to this blog too, so watch out! :)

What's This?
... Jack Skellington! :D
I found this on paperkraft.net the other day, and I really wanted to try it. It looked easy as well, so I printed it out straight away. So far it's coming along pretty well, apart from the lines because of the thick paper. I'm not gonna give up though :D

King of Red Lions: Complete!
The sail was really quick to glue together, so I got the whole mast+sail+head glued on in less than half an hour.
Another thing: the entire build is HUGE. Here's a comparison:

Ahh... rainy home at last
It. Was. Amazing. :D
My most memorable moment in CA was when we went back to Death Valley (the first time we went in April 4 years ago), since it was really hot. And I mean really. 51.5° C (124 F) was the hottest I experienced. It felt like opening an oven and standing right infront of it, and there was always a really strong wind present; it was so hot it wouldn't even cool you down! The humidity was 5% so you literally couldn't sweat, however when you go into a colder environment, like an air-conditioned car or room, you would start sweating like crazy. My hair dried in 15 mins outside! We also went to Badwater Basin, the lowest point in North America. At an elevation of 282 feet (86 metres) below sea level, theres a sign on the cliff beside the pool of salt water which says 'sea level'.
Hawai'i on the other hand was very humid and green. We were on the big island, Hawai'i, for a week and the smaller island, O'ahu, for 3 nights. Hawai'i was an interesting island, since half of the island was lush and green, whereas the other half was dry and deserty. Some parts even looked a bit like Scotland, with meadows and trees, including pines. The greener east side was the most interesting by far. Black sand beaches, volcanoes, tropical plants and exotic birds were just some of the things there. O'ahu is more built up though, mostly on the Honolulu/Waikiki side. The sunsets were fantastic, we stood on the rocky pier every evening and watched them :D

In LA
Oops... should've made that three weeks. Anyway, got back from Oahu yesterday and in LAX right now! Hawai'i was amazing; we even went to the summit of Mauna Kea, that's over 13,800 feet (4206 metres) !!!
I was feeling pretty woozy cause of the lack of air and I took a laughing fit in the car for no reason whatsoever :P
Boarding the plane to London in about 3 hours time, gonna be on the plane 10 and a half hours :( At least I have my iPod and my DSi to entertain me ;D
The time difference between LA and Britain is 8 hours, so it means that I'm leaving at 5:35 LA time and arriving in London 12 :00 British time. Plus another 1 and a half hours on the plane, waiting for luggage ( if only you knew how slow BA is) and the taxi back home, I'll only get home at about three, maybe four.
The food here is yummy, bye!

Summer holidays!
They started the day before yesterday but now's the time to announce it! Primary school's over, Secondary here I come! You can hardly tell it's summer here 'cause of the rain, but sometimes it's sunny too. This is quite long notice, but I'm going to America on the 8th July and coming back on the 28th. Also, King's head is coming along pretty well!

The King of Red Lions
I couldn't find my PVA glue so I decided to draw something. I started doodling and found myself trying to draw the King of Red Lions, so I stuck with that and finished the sketch! If I find my glue and finish Zelda then I might build Ninjatoes' King of Red Lions.

WW Zelda! Finally I got something done...
Here's Wind Waker Zelda! There's been a lot going on lately and a heap of homework I had (and still have) to do, but despite all that I found some free time to build her! I still need to finish her though, 'cause I've only built her head and body so far.

Medli's stand
Since I didn't want to make the stand a tiny container with some plasticine on it, I made this out of a painted aerosol can cap.
Since the Wind Waker is largely based on the sea, I painted waves along the bottom of it ;)

Finished Medli
She won't stand up on her own because her ponytail is too big and her feet are sorta tiny, but if you put something under the ponytail she'll stand up fine. This is one of my favourite models so far!
Improvise!
Because cutting out the very thin strips of paper which were meant to be the strings turned out to be a bit too hard, I decided to glue some thread to the lyre to make it look a bit more realistic. I think it turned out pretty well ;)

Lack of blogging... sorry... :'(
I forgot to warn you and I feel bad about it. Anyway, now you'll know why I was away. I was at music camp at Gartmore for a week and the concert at the end was really good! I was in the first clarinets. I'm just about to watch some Doctor Who and work on Medli's ponytail and head, so stay tuned!

X-Acto stylus knife
Here is my new invention... the X-Acto stylus knife! I got the idea when I was trying to multi-task by cutting out stuff and playing Spirit Tracks on my DSi, as I was using the non-knife end of the X-Acto knife to: well, tap stuff. One of my old styluses kept on falling out of the DS, so I cut off the end and glued it on to the knife.
The fish fingers at the end of the vid is the setting for my new stop motion, incase you were wondering ;)

All mangled up
Building without referring to a .pdo as often as you should can result in your model being completely wrong. Salvatore's arms ended up in a very akward position, so I'm gonna print out the page again, start a bit on Medli, hopefully get some work done on SSB:M Link's left hand and then go back to Salvatore. Also, I think I just invented something awesome :O I'll hopefully show it to you guys tomorrow!

The wonderful Wind Waker
After I've finished the ST Link base I'm thinking about making some Wind Waker papercrafts.
Salvatore - you just gotta love this guy. Hes just sits there all day long, waiting for some person (almost always Link) to come along and play his minigames. He first appeared in WW, but he reappeared on Bannan island in Phantom Hourglass.
Medli - her beak is so cool! She's half human-half duck (or something of the sort lol), but that doesn't stop her from being awesome.
You choose which one I'll build first! I'm just such an indecisive person, that's why.

X-Acto knife
I've just ordered an X-Acto knife and blades from Amazon, and I can't wait to try them out! Before, I used scissors and sometimes a utility knife, but you had to press really hard with it because it's not that sharp, and it felt like the paper was gonna rip at any moment. Hopefully now I can make some cleaner cuts ;)

Stuff to expect
SSB:M Link's feet and arm fell off because he fell like 10 million times (lol), but that was actually an advantage because he was out of balance before, so that gave me a chance to glue the feet on in a way that lets him stand up without his shield pulling him down. Another thing, expect another animation in a few days!

The base
Remember the ST Link base? There's more progress on that! As usual, there's a problem! The scanner isn't working, so I can only carry on if I have a backup of the front and back parts of the rocket, because I want other people to try and build it and if the original goes wrong I can always print the backup again.

Slideshows can be quite frustrating at times! X(
Over the past couple of days I've been trying to make a slideshow gadget, but 'searching-for-pictures-linked-to-keywords-off-a-file-hosting-website-like-Photobucket-Flickr-or-Picasa' wasn't my idea of making a slideshow. I thought you could just upload your own photos from your computer, but that just shows you how ignorant I can be sometimes!

Sheild, sheath and arm
The only thing I regret doing is not to glue parts 62 and 63 to the inside of his tunic. At the time, I thought "Why would I need to glue these bit in here?" Now I realise. It's to glue the arm to the torso, but I can still sort of get it to stay, so I guess it'll be fine. :D

PIY (paint it yourself)
As I have hand-drawn the parts for the ST Link base, I can't be bothered scanning them onto the computer and trying to work out how to colour them and print them off so that its done properly, so I've decided to paint it. Or colour it with felt tips, but that wouldn't be so good because it's quite big and I don't want to waste the ink in them. So, the solution is......... PIY!!! :D

I use my test blog for... umm... testing stuff (wasn't that a surprise). So, I downloaded the trial version of Artisteer to try and make some templates. I knew that it would leave a watermark on it, but the thing I didn't know was that it would leave not one, not five, but a whole load of 'em all over the template. I think it looks ugly, but what do you think?
